Back out in the Brentwood Business Community

Posted on November 15, 2021, by Nicola Lighterness

For many of us, the past 18 months have been a little bleak on the business outing calendar. We are so fortunate that, as a company, we were already set up to work remotely when Covid-19 hit in early 2020, and we transitioned smoothly to working from home, offering the same Blue Serif service, yet keeping our team safe and protecting the Brentwood business community at the same time by staying at home.

However, with 2021 and the promise of scientific hope for many of us, we were keen to get back out there within the local business community, and the last couple of months have seen us get back into the swing of things. It has certainly never felt better to be back out in the Brentwood business Community!

The Brentwood Business Showcase 2021

The first big event on our calendar post-lockdown was the 2021 Brentwood Business Showcase. Having exhibited for the previous 4 years, we were pleased to once again be back this year, after a year’s hiatus, albeit in a different venue at the Brentwood Centre.

Meeting with people face to face, catching up with those that we hadn’t seen for two years, and making new connections too felt very uplifting after only networking on a screen for the past 18 months or so!

Of course, we also had some fun and games up our sleeves to bring some of our personality back out there to the Brentwood business community; Sheriff enjoyed meeting some of his pals after being ‘on the shelf’ for so long, and we also had one of Matt’s famous brand quizzes, which was won by Freddie Foster of Branded Workwear!

It was a real joy to be networking again and showing our passion for elevating your brand in person once more.

The Brentwood Business Awards 2021

Hot on the heels of the Brentwood Business Showcase were the Brentwood Business Awards, organised by the Brentwood Chamber of Commerce. This year, as well as Matt being up for Business Person of the Year, we were also proud sponsors of an award for the first time, the Sales and Marketing Award.

It was a real pleasure to meet with the entrants for our award – some in person, some virtually – to see how they have used their marketing skills to ensure that their brands stay engaged with their audiences, often growing their businesses in what was a very challenging time for many a business out there. The competition was tough, and our three finalists 24 fingers, The Greenhouse Brentwood, and Zest Recycle were very worthy of the top spots, with the final award going to Zest Recycle for their forward thinking approach to marketing during the pandemic.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t Matt’s night when it came to Business Person of the Year, however it was so lovely to be out celebrating not only our achievements as a team, but also those of clients and colleagues within the Brentwood business community. From the stories of sore heads the next morning, dodgy hotels and energetic dance floor moves, we’re pretty sure that everyone within the Blue Serif team had a good night!

Getting back out there in the Brentwood Business Community

Aside from the business side of being back out there, it’s been so good to support our clients at various events that are important to them. In September, Matt and Nicola supported SNAP at their Communitea, which was the first face to face fundraising event the charity had hosted since the start of the pandemic. Similarly, we have been keen to be on site to support clients at their own networking events, such as our clients Zenova, who recently exhibited at the HOMES UK event at ExCeL London.

Of course, we certainly still have to be cautious, and we don’t know what the future will hold. Putting the needs of our team and our clients first and foremost will always be at the forefront of our minds when conducting our business. We are always more than happy to meet clients virtually if that is still the preferred route, or if at any point this is once again deemed safest. It just means that we can’t offer you a biscuit from our famous biscuit selection!

Being an extended part of your marketing team is what we do best, whether virtually or face to face. And so, having had a taste of the world starting to open up again, we are happy to be back out there with the Brentwood business community, and beyond, ready to elevate your brand.
